Hiking in the Dolomites takes you through wide alpine meadows, quiet forests, and beneath the region’s towering pale limestone peaks. Trails open onto sweeping viewpoints of dramatic cliffs such as the nearby Monte Civetta and the jagged ridges of Pale di San Martino. Along the way, wooden huts, grazing cows, and flower-filled pastures add a peaceful alpine atmosphere to the landscape. With its striking rock formations, vivid green valleys, and crisp mountain air, hiking around Falcade captures the classic beauty of the Dolomites.

Your adventure begins as you arrive in Italy, where transport will be arranged to collect you from Venice. It’s well connected to Europe, making your journey smooth and hassle-free. The meeting point, where we will start our journey to the mountains is in the city centre. The transfer will leave at 3pm and takes around 2 hours. If you arrive before this time there are several luggage storage places so you can use the time to explore Venice. If you’re arriving a day early, we can suggest excellent accommodation options to ensure a relaxed start to your journey.
For the duration of the trip, you’ll be based in Falcade, right in the heart of the Dolomites. This means you won’t have to carry all your belongings from place to place, and after each day of hiking, you’ll return to the comfort of a warm shower and a cosy bed. Get ready for an unforgettable week exploring one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

This classic Dolomites hike explores high pastures, dramatic passes, and some of the most photogenic scenery in the Marmolada range. Starting from Passo San Pellegrino, the trail climbs gently into the Valfredda Valley, a sweeping basin dotted with barns and alpine meadows.
From here, the route continues upward toward the striking red rock of Forca Rossa (2,490 m), once a World War I front line and now a panoramic pass with views over the Pale di San Martino and the Marmolada glacier. After a pause to take in the panorama, the descent leads into the Fuciade Basin, framed by jagged Dolomite peaks and known for its traditional mountain huts.
The final stretch returns to the starting point, completing a varied loop that balances historical interest with some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in the Dolomites.

Set in the heart of the Catinaccio Group, Lago d’Antermoia is one of the most enchanting lakes in the Dolomites, lying in a stark amphitheatre of pale limestone peaks. Starting from Passo di Carezza, the trail climbs through larch forests and alpine pastures before entering a rocky world of high mountain paths.
The route ascends toward Passo Dona and Passo delle Ciaregole, opening views across the Val di Fassa, before the final approach reveals the turquoise waters of Antermoia tucked beneath sheer cliffs. A nearby refuge provides the chance for rest before retracing the path or continuing on a longer circuit.
The return completes a demanding but spectacular day, with contrasts of woodland, meadow, scree slopes, and high alpine lake. For many, this is among the most unforgettable hikes in the Dolomites.

This loop combines three of the Dolomites’ most iconic landmarks: the jagged towers of Cinque Torri, the panoramic summit of Nuvolau (2,575 m), and the striking Averau (2,649 m). Starting from Passo Falzarego or Rifugio Bai de Dones, the trail climbs steadily through meadows and rocky paths to the Cinque Torri, a natural fortress of limestone pinnacles.
From here, the route continues upward toward Rifugio Nuvolau, one of the oldest huts in the Dolomites, perched on a dramatic summit with 360° views over the Civetta, Marmolada, Tofane, and Pelmo. A short traverse leads to Rifugio Averau and the high plateau below the Averau peak, another superb vantage point over the surrounding massifs.
The descent loops back via scenic ridges and mountain huts, completing a varied and rewarding day that blends dramatic geology, history, and some of the finest viewpoints in the Dolomites.

After several days of hiking through the Dolomite’s wild landscapes, today is a chance to slow down, explore the village at your own pace, or take a day trip to one of the country’s other stunning destinations.
There are hundreds more hikes you can go for alone if you still have the energy or maybe you would like to experience a bit of culture in Verona or Venice. We have lots of ideas for you if you need some inspiration.

This demanding loop explores the wild northern flanks of the Pale di San Martino, linking the alpine meadows of Val Venegia with the high pass of Mulaz and the dramatic Val di Focobon. Starting from Paneveggio, the trail climbs gently through larch and spruce forest into the idyllic Val Venegia, where grassy pastures are backed by the vertical towers of the Pale.
From Rifugio Venegiota the path steepens, winding over scree and rocky slopes toward Passo Mulaz (2,619 m). Here the scenery shifts to a stark high-alpine world, with the jagged summits of Cimon della Pala and the Pale plateau dominating the horizon. The descent into Val di Focobon is steep and rugged, surrounded by sheer limestone walls and deep gullies carved by snowmelt streams.
The loop closes by traversing back into Val Venegia, where wide pastures and mountain huts offer a gentler finish after the rugged high ground. Remote, varied, and spectacular, this is one of the great full-day hikes of the Dolomites.

This scenic circuit links the wide alpine pastures of Mondeval with the shimmering waters of Lago Federa, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. Starting from Passo Giau, the trail crosses rolling meadows beneath the jagged spires of the Croda da Lago group, with marmots often spotted among the rocks.
The route climbs gently to the Mondeval plateau, where Mesolithic archaeological remains were discovered in a shepherd’s shelter, before contouring across high pastures with sweeping views over Pelmo, Civetta, and the Tofane. A descent through larch woods leads to Lago Federa, perfectly framed by the soaring cliffs of Becco di Mezzodì reflected in its waters.
From the lake, the return ascends gradually back toward Passo Giau, closing a varied and atmospheric loop that blends history, alpine scenery, and one of the Dolomites’ most iconic lakes.

After an incredible week exploring the wild beauty of the Dolomites, it’s time to pack your bags and begin your journey onwards. Transport will be arranged to take you back to Venice (arrival around midday). It’s recommended not to book a flight before 4pm on the final day to give yourself time to get back to the airport.
If you’re extending your stay, there are plenty of incredible places to explore beyond the mountains. We’d be happy to share recommendations to help you make the most of your time.
As you leave the Dolomites behind, you’ll take with you memories of dramatic peaks, glacial lakes, and unforgettable adventures in one of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes. Until next time!

EXCELLENT Based on 79 reviews Posted on Google TH WWTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Well-designed and varied itinerary. We joined the first Sardinia tour with Garry, who accompanied the group throughout—clear attention to detail and strong collaboration with the local guide, Sergioooooooooooo. (Must pronounce his name in this way) The guide was knowledgeable and attentive, offering detailed insights during hikes while making sure everyone was comfortable. Accommodation was consistently good, and the traditional mountain shepherd dinner was a standout. I joined with a high school friend who flew across the Atlantic—worth it. The group bonded quickly despite different backgrounds. A strong choice if you want a hiking-focused trip with like-minded people.Posted on Google Chiao ChangTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely loved my first trip to Morocco through Trailmates Adventures. I’ve looked into other solo traveller group tours before but none ever ticked all the boxes until now. The entire trip felt like a hiking holiday with like minded friends - fun and interesting. Some friendships will last a long time, and some just shared moments. Great itinerary, well planned out, and adaptable depending on fitness levels. Communication was really good and straightforward, from both the organisers and the trustworthy local guides. Overall it was an incredible experience that exceeded expectations, and I am looking forward to booking my next trip. Our trip to Madeira was amazing. Trailmates Group organized a wonderful hike. This was our first group tour and our first hike ever, and now we'll definitely be going on more with this company. Firstly, the price was reasonable and the quality matched our expectations. Secondly, the tour was the perfect difficulty level and suitable for travelers of all fitness levels. The idea of traveling just for the hike was the most important thing for us, as we wanted to fully enjoy the hiking and nature. I'd also like to point out that Harry was always available, which gave us a sense of security. A huge thank you to our guide, Paolo – he's very friendly, has a clear itinerary, and does his job 100%. The other members of our group are wonderful, engaging people. We're so glad we met them, and they'll remain etched in our memories. Thank you, Trailmates, for Madeira, and we'll see you soon!Posted on Google Agnieszka JaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I liked the hikes in the Atlas Mountains and my fellow travellers in the group were great, too. I highly recommend it. :)Posted on Google Natasja HoexTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
