Your adventure begins as you arrive in Tenerife, where transport will be arranged to collect you from South Tenerife Airport. It’s well connected to Europe, making your journey smooth and hassle-free. We will start our journey to the accommodation in the late afternoon. If you arrive earlier you can store your luggage with us in San Isidro and use the time to explore the charming town. If you’re arriving a day early, we can suggest excellent accommodation options to ensure a relaxed start to your journey.Â
For the duration of the trip, you’ll be based in Puerto de la Cruz, near the beach with a view of the surrounding nature. This means you won’t have to carry all your belongings from place to place, and after each day of hiking, you’ll return to the comfort of a warm shower and a cosy bed. Get ready for an unforgettable week exploring one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

The Guajara hike is one of the most rewarding trails in Teide National Park, offering sweeping panoramic views over Mount Teide and the surrounding volcanic landscapes. Starting from the Parador or the nearby Degollada de Guajara, the path climbs steadily through rugged volcanic terrain and high-altitude vegetation before reaching the summit of Guajara (2,718 m), the highest peak on the rim of the Las Cañadas caldera. From the top, hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views of Teide, Pico Viejo, and even the nearby islands on clear days. Though the route is moderately challenging due to the elevation gain and thinner air at altitude, it’s accessible to most hikers with a reasonable level of fitness and makes for an unforgettable half-day adventure in Tenerife’s dramatic highlands.

Anaga Rural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Tenerife’s northeast, is a paradise of deep ravines, misty laurel forests, and rugged coastal cliffs. Trails wind through ancient woodland that feels almost primeval, with moss-covered trees and ferns thriving in the park’s unique subtropical microclimate. Routes vary in length and difficulty, from moderate circular hikes to more challenging ridge walks that reveal breathtaking views of the Atlantic and remote villages perched on the mountainsides. The ever-changing scenery—from lush green forests to windswept ridges and secluded black-sand beaches—makes Anaga one of the most diverse and rewarding hiking destinations on the island. With its cooler climate and magical atmosphere, a hike here feels like stepping into another world.

Climbing Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak at 3,718 m, is the ultimate hiking challenge in Tenerife. The most popular route begins at the Montaña Blanca trailhead, gradually ascending through striking pumice fields before merging with the steep zigzags of the La Rambleta path. From the upper cable car station at 3,555 m, a final 200 m climb leads to the crater rim—accessible only with a permit—where hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views across the Canary Islands and, on clear days, as far as mainland Africa. The high altitude and sustained elevation gain make this a demanding trek, but the experience of standing on Teide’s summit, surrounded by volcanic landscapes and vast skies, is unforgettable.Â
After several days of hiking through Tenerife’s dramatic volcanic landscapes, today is a chance to slow down and enjoy Puerto de la Cruz at your own pace, or take a short trip to one of the island’s other unforgettable experiences.
Another great option is a whale and dolphin watching excursion from the island’s south coast, where the deep waters between Tenerife and La Gomera are home to resident pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins, and, at certain times of year, migrating species such as sperm and humpback whales. Seeing these majestic animals in their natural habitat, against the backdrop of Teide’s volcanic silhouette, is a breathtaking experience.
For those who prefer to keep their feet on land, a gastronomy tour offers the chance to discover Tenerife’s culinary traditions, from family-run bodegas producing volcanic wines to local markets overflowing with tropical fruit, artisan cheeses, and fresh seafood. Sampling specialties like wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce or gofio-based dishes is not just a taste of the island but a journey into its culture and history. Whether at sea or around the table, today is all about savoring the richness of Tenerife beyond its hiking trails.

The Masca Gorge is one of Tenerife’s most iconic hikes, winding from the picturesque village of Masca down through a dramatic volcanic ravine to the Atlantic Ocean. The trail descends steeply between towering basalt cliffs, with narrow passages, rock formations, and occasional streams creating an adventurous atmosphere. At the bottom, hikers reach a secluded black-sand beach framed by sheer cliffs—once accessible by boat, though now the hike typically requires a return ascent back up the gorge. Despite its moderate distance, the steep terrain and rocky footing make the trail quite challenging, but the combination of breathtaking scenery and raw natural beauty makes Masca one of the island’s most unforgettable hiking experiences.

The Orotava Valley, stretching from the lush slopes of Teide National Park down to the historic town of La Orotava, is one of Tenerife’s most scenic hiking areas. Trails meander through pine forests, terraced farmland, and volcanic ridges, offering sweeping views over the Atlantic coastline and the green patchwork of the valley below. The area is famous for its contrasts—fragrant canarian pine forests higher up, fertile cultivated lands in the mid-valley, and the red rooftops of La Orotava nestled against the ocean backdrop. With a range of circular and linear routes to choose from, the valley is ideal for hikers seeking a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and panoramic vistas of both Mount Teide and the north coast.
