Your adventure begins as you arrive in Italy, where transport will be arranged to collect you from Olbia Airport. It’s well connected to Europe, making your journey smooth and hassle-free. We will start our journey to the accommodation in the late afternoon. If you arrive earlier you can store your luggage in the city centre and use the time to explore Olbia.
To make the most of your trip, we recommend arriving in the morning or afternoon, giving you time to settle in and it’s a great opportunity to meet your fellow adventurers. If you’re arriving a day early, we can suggest excellent accommodation options to ensure a relaxed start to your journey.
For the duration of the trip, you’ll be based in Cala Gonone, rightby the beach and surrounded by beautiful nature. This means you won’t have to carry all your belongings from place to place, and after each day of hiking, you’ll return to the comfort of a warm shower and a cosy bed. Get ready for an unforgettable week exploring one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

This hike explores one of Sardinia’s most iconic coastlines, combining the panoramic viewpoint of Punta Salinas with the turquoise waters of Cala Goloritzè. Starting from the Golgo Plateau above Baunei, the trail descends through juniper scrub and limestone valleys, with sweeping views of the Supramonte mountains.
A side path climbs to Punta Salinas, a dramatic rocky outcrop high above the Gulf of Orosei. From here, sheer limestone cliffs drop straight into the sea, with Cala Goloritzè’s white pebble beach and famous stone arch visible far below. Returning to the main trail, the path continues down toward the beach itself, where crystal-clear water and towering cliffs create one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful coves.
The return is a steady climb back to the Golgo Plateau, completing a hike that blends mountain scenery, dramatic viewpoints, and time by the sea.

Gorropu Canyon, often called the “Grand Canyon of Europe,” is one of Sardinia’s most spectacular natural wonders. The trail begins from the Silana Plateau and descends steadily through wild limestone valleys dotted with juniper and holm oak before plunging into the gorge itself.
At the canyon floor, towering walls rise up to 500 metres on either side, creating a dramatic and almost otherworldly atmosphere. The path follows the dry riverbed over polished boulders, with narrow passages and echoing chambers that highlight the scale of this immense chasm.
The return is a long climb back to the plateau, making this a demanding but unforgettable hike. For those who prefer less ascent, jeep transfers are available from the canyon entrance, but walking both ways gives the full experience of Sardinia’s most impressive gorge.

This route combines the panoramic ridges above the Gulf of Orosei with a descent to one of its most secluded coves. Starting from the Toddeitto heights above Cala Gonone, the trail traverses limestone slopes and Mediterranean scrub, with far-reaching views over cliffs and turquoise sea.
The path descends steeply through rocky gullies and juniper thickets toward Cala Ziu Santoru, a wild pebble beach framed by soaring cliffs. Remote and rarely visited, the cove offers a sense of isolation and raw beauty, with clear waters perfect for a swim before the climb back up.
The return retraces the ascent to Toddeitto, making for a demanding outing that balances high viewpoints with the reward of a hidden beach. Few hikes capture the rugged spirit of the Baunei coast as completely as this one.

On your free day in Sardinia between hikes, you could stay by the coast in Cala Gonone and take a leisurely boat trip along the Gulf of Orosei, gliding past sheer limestone cliffs and stopping at coves such as Cala Luna or Cala Mariolu where you can swim in clear turquoise water and explore sea caves that feel hidden from the world. After returning to shore, the afternoon is well spent in the nearby town of Dorgali where artisan workshops showcase traditional ceramics, leatherwork and delicate filigree jewelry, and small wineries invite you to taste the region’s celebrated Cannonau wines. As evening settles in, you can linger over a shepherd’s feast in a rustic agriturismo, savoring roasted suckling pig, fresh cheeses and crisp pane carasau, while the setting sun casts golden light over the Supramonte hills. It is a day of rest and immersion that blends the island’s natural beauty with its culture and flavors, leaving you restored for the next trek.

The hike to Tiscali leads into the heart of Sardinia’s Supramonte mountains, where a collapsed limestone doline hides the mysterious ruins of a Nuragic village. The trail begins from the Lanaitho Valley near Dorgali and climbs steadily through rocky woodland and juniper scrub, with occasional views of the surrounding cliffs.
After a steep ascent, the path enters the vast sinkhole of Monte Tiscali, its walls rising high above a hidden plateau. Here, tucked among the trees and boulders, lie the remains of stone dwellings dating back to the Nuragic period. The sense of isolation and secrecy is striking, with the ruins blending almost invisibly into the landscape.
The return follows the same rugged path back to the valley, completing a hike that combines archaeology, geology, and wild mountain scenery in one of Sardinia’s most atmospheric sites.

Mount Corrasi (1,463 m) is the highest peak of the Supramonte range and one of Sardinia’s most rewarding ascents. Starting from the Oliena side, the trail climbs through Mediterranean scrub and karst formations before emerging onto stark limestone slopes where the views expand with every step.
The route winds over rocky ridges and scattered juniper trees, with wide panoramas across the Gulf of Orosei, the Barbagia mountains, and inland plateaus. Reaching the summit, the vista stretches from the rugged Supramonte wilderness to the distant Sardinian coastline.
The descent follows the same rugged path back, completing a demanding but spectacular day in the high mountains. With its combination of solitude, panoramic views, and dramatic karst terrain, Mount Corrasi offers one of the finest hiking experiences on the island.

After an incredible week exploring the wild beauty of Sardinia, it’s time to pack your bags and begin your journey onwards. Transport will be arranged to take you back to Olbia. It’s recommended not to book a flight too early on the final day to give yourself time to get back to the airport.
If you’re extending your stay, there are plenty of incredible places to explore beyond the mountains. We’d be happy to share recommendations to help you make the most of your time.
As you leave Sardinia behind, you’ll take with you memories of dramatic peaks, glacial lakes, and unforgettable adventures in one of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes. Until next time!

EXCELLENT Based on 52 reviews Posted on Sarah GTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I joined the Oman hiking trip and it was a great experience! The program was well structured, with an amazing international group with a good age mix. The accommodation felt very authentic and each day offered different landscapes and nature, so every hike felt unique. It was my first trip with Trailmates and I can highly recommend!Posted on R. I was looking for a mix of genuine adventure and a great community, and Trailmates delivered on both. The group was incredibly welcoming. It felt less like a formal tour and more like a trip with a group of friends. We didn't just see the mountains, we experienced Omani hospitality and authentic local food. Everything was well-organized. It was an adventure with an amazing group of people!Posted on Ruben VlekTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just returned from a great week in Oman! It was one of the few really authentic trips which I made, and the first with Trailmatesadventures. I liked the mixed group (32-62 yrs) of inspiring people. The whole trip was well organized, but with enough room for flexibility (e.g. alternative hikes, activities). I’ve never joined any group trips before, but this was very relaxed just having to book the trip and flight (and seeing various highlights without having to do the research).Posted on Oksana BolkinaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a really enjoyable trip to Madeira, despite the unusual weather and unexpected flight cancellations. The hikes were great (our guide Paulo just amazing), and the orga on the island was very good. I didn’t have to worry about anything, which is exactly what I wanted for this trip.Posted on Peder OlesenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I very much enjoyed the hikes in beautiful Madeira. The company was excellent, and our guide André was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the week. If I had to point to anything that could be improved it'd be at the arrival at the apartments; it wasn't clear where luggage could be safely stored until check-in, so we needed to improvise a bit at that point. Also, the lock in the apartment door wasn't in the best condition. However, these very minor issues don't really subtract from what was overall a superb experience!Posted on samantha lambertTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My trip to Madeira was absolutely fantastic. I felt very safe with Andre as our guide, he was attentive and thoughtful, even adjusting some of the hikes to accommodate the group when the steep downhill sections proved challenging. The accommodation was great, especially the location, which was perfect for afternoon swims in the sea and easy access to restaurants in the evenings. I’d definitely consider booking again for a future adventure.Posted on Gillian OTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you want and adventurous holiday with no worries about organizing it, try it!Posted on Karen AlgeoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Did the Moffat, Scotland trip lead by Gary and Tom. Had such a good time, gorgeous views and we got crazy lucky with the weather in September. The duo were super receptive and flexible to the group’s ability and morale, and were quick to think on their feet to adjust the itinerary to work better for us all. A lovely group of female hikers too. Would definitely book in again with them ❤️Posted on Maja De BritoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I joined the Scotland hiking trip. A top notch, 5-star experience from planning stage to saying goodbye with the group and the guides. Garry was immensly helpful with bits and pieces of information that made organising my traveling to Scotland and arriving to the meeting place a smooth and pleasant experience. Communication throught Whatsapp was effortless and always with a very quick reponse. I felt everything was taken care of, with a ready and helpful response for every inquiry or need. The hikes themselves were wonderful, both guides were very flexible and adapted to our level of fitness, but also our interests. Very grateful that we had the opportunity to see some off the beaten track routes. I have several food intolerances and this was never a limitation on this trip. There were always options, be it through the possibility of preparing my own food as well as having many choices eating out. I've been recommending their hikes to my friends and will definitely join for other destinations.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
