We will arrange transport to collect you from Funchal Airport and take you to the accommodation. We advise to arrive in the morning afternoon so you’re in time for evening welcome drinks to discuss the plans for the week’s hiking. We can also recommend accommodation for the night before if you plan to arrive earlier. Funchal will be the base for the whole trip, which is great because you don’t need to carry all your stuff around and after a long day walking you know your warm shower and bed is awaiting you.

The hike along Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço is a captivating journey that highlights the natural splendour of Madeira’s easternmost peninsula. Beginning from the coastal town of Caniçal, renowned for its fishing heritage and rugged landscapes, the trail meanders along cliffside paths overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As you trek, panoramic vistas unfold, revealing dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters, and volcanic rock formations that characterize this unique coastal terrain. After lunch we will do a beautiful loop hike which takes us to the stunning viewpoint, Miradouro dos Balocoes. It’s a spectacularly scenic spot with a path that leads you through a beautiful forest before finishing at the Balcoes (balcony) with views from the ocean to Pico Ruvio which is the highest peak on Madeira at 1,862 meters.

On the way back to the accommodation we’ll make a stop at Cabo Girao to stand on the glass balcony at the top of Europe’s tallest cliff.
