Your adventure begins as you arrive in Slovenia, where transport will be arranged to collect you from the capital’s Ljubljana Airport. It’s well connected to Europe, making your journey smooth and hassle-free. We can also collect you near Bled on the way to the Alps if it’s more convenient.
To make the most of your trip, we recommend arriving in the morning or afternoon, giving you time to settle in and also a great opportunity to meet your fellow adventurers. If you’re arriving a day early, we can suggest excellent accommodation options to ensure a relaxed start to your journey. The transfer to the Alps will be late afternoon or when the final guest arrives. If you arrive earlier it’s the perfect opportunity to explore Ljubljana where we’ll take you straight from the airport and look after your bags.
For the duration of the trip, you’ll be based in Kranjska Gora, right in the heart of the Julian Apls. This means you won’t have to carry all your belongings from place to place, and after each day of hiking, you’ll return to the comfort of a warm shower and a cosy bed. Get ready for an unforgettable week exploring one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

One of the most accessible high-altitude summits in the Julian Alps, Mala Mojstrovka (2,332m) offers stunning 360° views over Triglav National Park and the Soca Valley. The hike begins at Vršič Pass, following a steep but well-marked trail through rocky terrain and switchbacks. This stunning hike takes you through the famous Seven Lakes Valley, one of the most beautiful alpine landscapes in Slovenia. The trail starts at Planina Blato, leading through forests, meadows, and rocky terrain before reaching a series of crystal-clear glacial lakes surrounded by dramatic peaks. The reflections of the mountains in the deep blue waters make this a dream hike for photographers. The moderate elevation gain and well-marked paths make it one of the best long hikes near Kranjska Gora.
After several days of hiking through Slovenia’s wild landscapes, today is a chance to slow down, explore at your own pace, or take a day trip to one of the country’s other stunning destinations.
Another great option is the short trip to Lake Bled, one of the most iconic and picturesque destinations in Slovenia, known for its emerald-green waters, fairy-tale island, and dramatic mountain backdrop. Nestled in the foothills of the Julian Alps, the lake offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor activities. Visitors can take a traditional pletna boat to the charming Bled Island, home to the historic Church of the Assumption, or explore Bled Castle, perched high on a cliff with stunning panoramic views. The surrounding area is ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, or a leisurely walk along the scenic lakefront trail, while those looking for a taste of local tradition can indulge in Bled’s famous cream cake (kremna rezina) at a lakeside café.

A fantastic viewpoint hike near Lake Bohinj, Viševnik (2,050m) is a relatively short climb that provides one of the best panoramic views of Mount Triglav. The trail starts at Rudno Polje and ascends through pine forests before reaching open alpine ridges. The final stretch is a bit steeper, but the summit rewards hikers with stunning vistas of the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. This is a great early-season hike, as it’s one of the first high-altitude trails to become snow-free.

This waterfall and valley hike is perfect for those looking for a diverse and scenic route without a major summit climb. The trail begins near Mojstrana, leading to the 52-meter-high Peričnik Waterfall, where you can walk behind the cascade for a unique perspective. Continuing into Vrata Valley, the hike offers stunning views of the north face of Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. The valley is surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs, making it one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Julian Alps.
After an incredible week exploring the wild beauty of the Julian Alps, it’s time to pack your bags and begin your journey onwards. Transport will be arranged to take you to the airport, or back to Ljubljana city. It’s recommended not to book a flight too early on the final day to give us time to get you back to the airport.
If you’re extending your stay, there are plenty of incredible places to explore beyond the mountains. We’d be happy to share recommendations to help you make the most of your time.
As you leave Krasnjska Gora behind, you’ll take with you memories of dramatic peaks, glacial lakes, and unforgettable adventures in one of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes. Until next time!
