After settling at your new home for the next days there will be a welcome dinner to discuss the plans for the week’s hiking. Mestia will be the base for all hikes for the next 5 days. It’s great because you don’t need to carry all your stuff around and after a long day walking you know your warm shower and bed is awaiting you.
The day hike to Koruldi Lakes from Mestia is a stunning adventure that showcases the best of Georgia’s Svaneti region’s natural beauty. Starting from the small but vibrant town of Mestia, known for its medieval watchtowers and picturesque setting, the trail to Koruldi Lakes begins with a steady climb through lush forests and alpine meadows. As you ascend, the path offers increasingly spectacular views of the surrounding Caucasus Mountains, including peaks like Ushba and Tetnuldi, famed for their dramatic silhouettes against the sky.
A day hike in Ushguli, one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe, offers a truly memorable experience amidst the rugged backdrop of Georgia’s Caucasus Mountains. Starting from this UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its ancient stone towers and traditional Svan architecture, hikers can explore a variety of trails that meander through verdant meadows and along rushing rivers. One popular route leads to the Shkhara Glacier, providing stunning views of Mount Shkhara, Georgia’s highest peak.
Starting out, the path takes you through a beautiful forested area, following the Mestiachala River, whose rushing waters accompany you as you walk. The trail is well-marked and gradually ascends through the forest before opening out to more rugged terrain as you approach the glacier. As the trees thin, the full grandeur of the surrounding mountainscape becomes apparent, with the impressive peaks of the Caucasus surrounding you. The final approach to Chalaadi Glacier involves navigating a more rocky and barren landscape, with the glacier itself a striking feature against the stark mountainous backdrop. Standing before the glacier, hikers can appreciate the sheer scale of this natural ice formation, which dramatically underscores the raw beauty of the Georgian wilderness.
A chance to explore the village, rest your legs or go on another hike. Mestia, nestled in Georgia’s majestic Svaneti region, offers a captivating blend of cultural and natural attractions. Visitors can explore ancient Svan Towers, delve into the region’s rich history at the Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography, and embark on stunning hikes to sites like Chalaadi Glacier and Koruldi Lakes. A cable car ride to Mount Hatsvali provides breathtaking views, while the Margiani Family Tower and House Museum offers insights into traditional Svan life. The local cuisine, with delights such as Khachapuri and Kubdari, adds to the authentic experience.
The Chkhuti Ridge hike in Georgia’s rugged Svaneti region is a thrilling adventure for those seeking breathtaking mountain scenery and a challenging trek. EXCELLENT Based on 140 reviews Cristina Antonac14/06/2024 Bilo je stvarno lijepo iskustvo. Odličan način za posjetiti London, usput vježbati engleski izgovor i vidjeti okolna mjesta kao što su nacionalni park New Forest i Oxford. Michela Zandonai13/06/2024 The experience with English Al Fresco has been positive and I would recommend it to someone who wants to spend a long weekend while speaking English and visiting amazing places in the UK. I chose London for the month of June. I travelled on my own then I was lucky to meet a nice group of people to share the experience with. Reaching the town of Reading was really easy and, at the same time, it is very easy to reach London from Reading, if you want to spend more days there. English Al Fresco’s house is located in Shienfield, a nice village where is possible to take quiet walks before or after a day spent with the group. Nadia De Lorenzo12/06/2024 Beautiful experience, very good teachers, I can't wait to repeat it Gianni Franzese30/05/2024 One of the greatest and interesting experiences of my life. A special thanks to Hannah, Katie and Phoebe for making unforgettable this journey. elena donadi23/05/2024 Unforgettable!Still day dreaming Scotland! Amazing experince living Scottish people life from the acomodation to the food! Very well organize and with an honest price! Garry and his colleges are amazing, always available and kind with a friendly approach they try to bring out the best of their students with smart and of course al fresco lessons. Thank you ❤🌹🙏 Anastasia Murashko22/05/2024 My experience has been incredible. I’ve had the opportunity to see many wonderful places. It was nice to meet people from different countries. The accomodation is very comfortable. After this course I felt more confident with speacking english. I highly recommand. Thank's for everything! Elena22/05/2024 Esperienza fantastica! Viktoria Lekh22/05/2024 If you're looking to improve your English, English Al Fresco offers a well-rounded, enriching program that will exceed your expectations. I recently completed an English course with Garry in Edinburgh, and I highly recommend it. The accommodations provided were exceptional. We stayed in a very beautiful house that looked like a scene from an Agatha Christie movie. One of the highlights of the course was the variety of excursions included. These outings were not only educational but also incredibly fun and memorable. I will never forget swimming in the mountain lake and rolling down the hill. I left the course not only with improved English skills but also with new friends and unforgettable experiences. I am looking forward to joining other adventures with English Al Fresco. Silvie P.22/05/2024 Great experience, I met a lot of nice people and great hosts. I definitely want to come back, just to a different place😊
